How to lower your landed cost

  • Use the right HS code: cotton garments often pay less US duty than synthetic ones
  • Claim preferences: keep the origin statement on our invoice to claim GSP+ (EU) or DCTS (UK)
  • Choose sea freight for large repeat orders; air courier for samples and small runs
  • Ask for DDP if you want one all-in price with duty and customs included

Frequently asked questions

What is landed cost?

The total cost of getting goods to your door: factory price, freight, insurance, import duty, taxes and customs fees.

Is clothing from Pakistan duty-free in the UK and EU?

Most garments are, under the UK DCTS and EU GSP+ schemes, when the rules of origin are met. Import VAT still applies but is usually reclaimable.

Why is US duty higher on polyester jerseys?

The US tariff schedule sets higher general rates for many synthetic garments (around 28–32%) than for cotton ones (around 16.5%).

Does freight count toward duty?

In the UK and EU, yes (CIF value). In the USA, Canada and Australia, duty is based on the goods value, though Australian GST includes freight.

What is DDP?

Delivered Duty Paid: the supplier arranges shipping and pays duty and import charges, so you receive the goods with nothing more to pay.
