Creating a denim blue vintage wash
The faded denim look comes from washing, not printing. We sew the tee from undyed combed cotton, garment-dye it blue, then wash it with stones or enzymes to soften the colour and give the seams and collar a worn-in fade. Every wash batch moves slightly, so we approve a wash standard with you first and match each production batch to it. The graphic is printed after the wash so it sits crisp on the faded base; if you want the print to look aged too, we print first and wash afterwards, which breaks up the ink in a controlled way. Garment dyeing shrinks cotton, so shrinkage is tested and the pattern adjusted before bulk, and the thick rib neckline is cover-stitched so it keeps its shape.
