Sportswear Lead Time: From Sampling to Bulk Production

Updated 14 October 2026 · By Salman Munawar, Founder, Ravix Pro Industry

Quick answer: Custom sportswear usually takes about 1–2 weeks for sampling and 3–6 weeks for bulk production, plus shipping; delays mostly come from design changes and late approvals.

“When will my order arrive?” depends on more than the factory’s sewing speed. Most delays in sportswear happen before cutting starts: unclear artwork, slow sample approval or fabric that has to be dyed. This guide breaks lead time into stages so you can plan launches, team seasons and reorders with confidence.

Quick answer

A typical custom sportswear order takes about 6 to 10 weeks from enquiry to delivery: roughly 1 week for quote and artwork, 1 to 2 weeks for sampling, 3 to 6 weeks for bulk production, and 3 to 7 days by air express or about 3 to 6 weeks by sea. Repeat orders of approved styles are faster because sampling is skipped.

Cut and sew tracksuits, jackets 4–6 weeks

What really causes delays

  1. Incomplete tech packs. Missing measurements or Pantone codes create back-and-forth. A clear tech pack saves a week.
  2. Slow sample feedback. Every round of changes adds roughly a week.
  3. Custom dyed fabric. Mill dyeing and lab dips can add 2–3 weeks.
  4. Late changes after approval. Changing a logo or size split after cutting resets part of the schedule.
  5. Payment and documents. Production slots are confirmed once the deposit arrives.

How to shorten your lead time

  • Send vector artwork (AI, PDF or SVG) and Pantone codes in the first message.
  • Choose stock fabric colours for time-critical orders.
  • Approve samples from photos and video when the style is a repeat or a minor change.
  • Ship urgent parts by air and the rest by sea.
  • Plan reorders 6–8 weeks before stock runs out.

From our factory floor in Sialkot

At Ravix Pro Industry we have manufactured sportswear since 2008. Every order follows the same 11 steps: quote, design, approval, sample, cutting, decoration, stitching, thread trimming, quality check, packing and door-to-door shipping. Sublimation, screen printing, embroidery and stitching happen in-house, so we control colour, print quality and timing ourselves. The most common problem we see with first-time buyers is skipping the sample; a physical sample costs a little extra but prevents expensive surprises in bulk. FAQs

How long does it take to manufacture sportswear?

About 3 to 6 weeks of bulk production after the sample is approved. With quoting, sampling and shipping, plan 6 to 10 weeks door to door.

Can you do rush orders?

Often yes for sublimated teamwear and repeat styles using stock fabric. Tell us your deadline when you request a quote so we can confirm a slot.

Is air or sea shipping better?

Air express (3–7 days) suits small and urgent orders. Sea freight (3–6 weeks port to port, plus clearance) is cheaper per kilo for large orders.

Do reorders take less time?

Yes. Approved patterns and artwork are on file, so sampling is skipped and production can start once fabric is ready.

When should a sports club order for a new season?

Start 10 to 12 weeks before the first match if you need new designs, and 6 to 8 weeks for a repeat kit.
