Sportswear Manufacturing Checklist for Buyers (Free Template)

Updated 14 October 2026 · By Salman Munawar, Founder, Ravix Pro Industry

Quick answer: A sportswear manufacturing checklist covers the brief or tech pack, fabric and trims, sample approval, sizes, price, MOQ, lead time, quality checks, labels and shipping.

Experienced buyers rarely rely on memory. They use a checklist so nothing is missed between the first quote and the delivered carton. Use the list below for every new supplier and every new style. It works whether you are a startup placing a 30-piece order or a distributor buying thousands.

Quick answer

A sportswear buyer checklist covers seven stages: (1) vet the factory, (2) finalise specifications, (3) compare quotes, (4) approve samples, (5) confirm terms in writing, (6) monitor production and inspect, and (7) arrange shipping and documents. Tick each item before moving to the next stage.

Red flags at any stage

Red flag Why it matters
Refuses video call or factory tour May be a trading middleman
Price far below every other quote Lower fabric or hidden costs later
Payment to a personal account High fraud risk
No written sample approval process No reference if bulk goes wrong

Pair this checklist with questions to ask a sportswear manufacturer and how to find a reliable sportswear manufacturer.

From our factory floor in Sialkot

At Ravix Pro Industry we have manufactured sportswear since 2008. Every order follows the same 11 steps: quote, design, approval, sample, cutting, decoration, stitching, thread trimming, quality check, packing and door-to-door shipping. Sublimation, screen printing, embroidery and stitching happen in-house, so we control colour, print quality and timing ourselves. The most common problem we see with first-time buyers is skipping the sample; a physical sample costs a little extra but prevents expensive surprises in bulk. See our manufacturing process and quality checks.

FAQs

What is the most important item on the checklist?

A written, signed sample approval with measurement tolerances. It is the reference for every quality decision after that.

How do I verify a factory is real?

Ask for a live video tour, company registration, certificates you can check with the issuing body, and buyer references.

Which certifications matter for USA, UK and EU buyers?

WRAP and amfori BSCI for social compliance, OEKO-TEX for textile safety and ISO 9001 for quality management are the most requested.

Do I need a certificate of origin?

For duty preference under EU GSP+ or the UK DCTS, yes. Ask your factory to provide the correct origin documents with the shipment.
