What HS code is used for t-shirts?

Last updated 26 October 2026 · Reviewed by Salman Munawar, Founder

Short answer

Knitted t-shirts, singlets and tank tops are classified under HS heading 6109. Cotton t-shirts use 6109.10 and polyester or other material t-shirts use 6109.90. Long-sleeve t-shirts stay in 6109. Woven shirts are classified differently (6205 men’s, 6206 women’s). Confirm the full national code with your broker.

Common codes

  • 100% cotton or cotton-rich t-shirt: 6109.10
  • Polyester performance or sublimated t-shirt: 6109.90
  • Tank tops and singlets: 6109.10 / 6109.90 by fibre
  • Woven shirts (not t-shirts): 6205 (men’s), 6206 (women’s)

How we help at Ravix Pro

Many countries split 6109 further by gender and fibre in their national digits, for example the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule lists separate 10-digit lines for men’s and women’s cotton t-shirts. Your broker adds these from your shipment details.
